Ugly Christmas Sweater DIY

It’s that time of year where attending a holiday function at least twice a week is the new norm. If you know me then you know I’m all about my DIY’s. This idea was found on Pinterest, which is also a go to of mine for crafty inspiration.

By now I am sure all of you are familiar with the show Stranger Things. A Netflix series that is a must see if you aren’t already hip. This is my first year creating an Ugly Christmas Sweater which came from a scene of

Stranger Things.

Here’s what you’ll need:

• A sweater/sweatshirt of your choice

• Battery operated led lights

• A sharpie (writing utensil of your choice as long as its visible )

• Needle and thread

You can alter the sweater to your liking. Add or replace any decorations to your sweater to fit your personal style. My sweatshirt was a little basic so I added a Christmas Tree choker as an accessory.

Step 1. Start by spacing your lights onto your sweater/sweatshirt. I made sure I was able to place the battery pack in my back pocket. (Don't sew the lights down yet)

Step 2. Draw your letters onto your sweatshirt. It doesn't have to be perfect we can do that at the end.

Step 3. Once your letters are on the sweater the way you want them, use this as your guide for sewing down your lights. I used green thread to blend with the wire on the lights.

Step 4. Style and decorate your sweater as desired.
